A board-certified dermatologist is a medical physician who specializes in the hair, skin, nails, and mucous membranes. Becoming a board-certified dermatologist requires years of intense specialty training including college (4 years), medical school (4 years), internship (1 year), dermatology residency (3 years), and board certification by the American Board of Dermatology. In total, this training amounts to 16,000+ hours of patient care to ensure that a board-certified dermatologist can expertly diagnose and treat over 3,000 dermatologic conditions. At Sweetwater Dermatology, each patient will be personally evaluated and treated by Dr. Likhari, who has been board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology since graduating from residency at Vanderbilt University.
